Root canal treatment enables you to preserve a tooth that has become infected.

There are many reasons why a tooth can become infected, including tooth decay, injury or a leaky filling. You will need an X-ray to determine where your tooth is infected and if root canal treatment is an option for you.

Root canal treatment often takes place over 2 appointments. During your first appointment, infected tissue will be removed from inside your tooth. You will be given a local anaesthetic to make the treatment more comfortable for you. You will then receive a temporary filling to make sure that the infection does not return before your treatment is completed.

At your second appointment, a permanent restoration will be placed to seal the tooth and prevent infection from spreading to the surrounding bone. Your dentist will be able to advise on the most appropriate restoration for your tooth, for example, a filling, crown or onlay.

With proper restoration and care, your root-filled tooth may last a lifetime.

A bridge is a technique to permanently replace a missing tooth or teeth.

A bridge is essentially a prosthetic tooth or teeth used to ‘bridge’ a gap in the mouth.

A bridge is usually made of porcelain, which can be carefully matched to blend with your natural teeth, providing a durable and aesthetic replacement.

The prosthetic tooth or teeth are traditionally attached to crowned teeth on either side of the gap. Where teeth on either side of the gap are strong and healthy, an alternative is an adhesive bridge where the teeth are held in place by a metal plate, which is bonded directly to the natural teeth on either side.

Our dentists will thoroughly assess your teeth and gums to check your suitability for a bridge as well as advise you of any other options that are available to you.

Bridge treatment normally takes place over 2 appointments. During the first appointment for a traditional bridge, the teeth on either side will be prepared in readiness for crowns. We will use a local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort.

For both types of bridges, impressions will be taken so that your bridge can be custom-made in a dental laboratory. Once your bridge is ready, you will return for your fit appointment.

Dentures can replace missing teeth to make day-to-day activities such as eating and speaking more comfortable.

Dentures are removable prosthetic teeth that are held in place with special adhesive during the day and removed at night. They are custom-made to look and feel similar to your natural teeth.

We are able to offer full or partial dentures, depending on how many teeth you are missing. Our dentists will be able to take you through the options available to give you the confidence to enjoy your smile.

Once you have decided to go ahead with treatment, it will take several visits for your new denture to be ready. At your first appointment, our dentists will take measurements of your mouth and impressions. These will be sent to a dental laboratory to create your bespoke set of dentures. You will have several fit appointments to allow for any adjustments and to make sure you feel comfortable.
